FAQ

I'm having a cesarean so how can a doula help me?

If you are having a cesarean birth, as your doula I will either be in the room with you, or I will wait until the procedure is over (each hospital is different). I will help you establish breastfeeding and help you hold your baby. Birth packages are customize-able so typically I provide more postpartum care in the event of a cesarean birth.

Can I benefit from a doula if I already have a midwife?

Absolutely! Doula's and midwives make the perfect team. Their birth philosophy's are in sync and work very well together. The difference being that midwives are medical professionals and doulas are birth professionals. Midwives provide very hands on, personalized care, however, they still have medical requirements. They need to check blood pressure, check baby's heart rate, and complete your chart. While they are doing this the doula is with you providing you with continuous care through each contraction. If you have a partner, the doula is helping them and showing them how to be as involved as they, and you, are comfortable with.
